Photodynamic therapy ( PDT ), is a form of phototherapy involving light and a photosensitizing chemical substance, used in conjunction with molecular oxygen to elicit cell death. PDT is popularly used in treating acne.

Photodynamic laser therapy (PDLT) is a treatment that involves light-sensitive medicine and a DPSS laser source to destroy abnormal cells. The laser can be used to treat some skin and eye conditions, as well as certain types of cancer.
